Mike Tame, BSc, PhD

Mike Tame is a Principal Associate of Abacus Organic Associates and Director of Training for Abacus Organic Services Ltd working as an independent consultant and trainer. He has been involved in agriculture for almost 30 years and organic agriculture for the last 10 years.

Mike spent 12 years in agricultural research, followed by 6 years in the compound feed industry as a senior technical manager for Bibby Agriculture. He set up a consultancy business for them and then ran his own consultancy for 8 years. He then spent 3 years with Elm Farm Research Centre before becoming a founder member and director of Abacus Organic Services Ltd in July 2001.

For the last 5 years Mike has specialised in running training courses and events for organic farmers and veterinarians alongside his consultancy specialising in conversion planning, ruminant nutrition and health, and all aspects of forage management including alternative forages. He is also an accredited organic inspector. He is a member of BSAS and BGS including the Forage Legume special interest group.
