Stephen Merritt

Stephen Merritt has worked in agriculture for over 30 years, first in conventional farming in the UK, then in subsistence pig and poultry farming systems in Asia Pacific and Africa. Stephen was the first Organic Conversion Information Service Adviser in the UK, recruited by Elm Farm in 1996, advising beef, sheep, poultry and pig farmers and training new advisers.

Along with his wife, Stephen developed an organic vegetable box scheme and later set up an organic poultry production, slaughter and processing enterprise in Wales. Alongside running his poultry enterprise, Stephen has continued to provide consultancy and advice. He is the author of the Organic Poultry Guide (2007).
