Roger Hitchings, BSc(Hons), PGCE(FE)

Roger Hitchings is employed by the Organic Research Centre, Elm Farm and specialises in advice and training in organic horticulture including fruit, composting, soil management and fertility, technical conversion planning and protected cropping. Roger has 20 years of direct experience in the organic sector including 7 years of commercial horticultural crop production. He has been responsible for the writing and delivery of organic courses at a range of levels including FE.

Roger joined the Organic Advisory Service in 1998 and is now Head of Advisory Services at the Organic Research Centre. Roger has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of horticultural production, organic standards and related research and development. He is a member of the Advisory Committee on Organic Standards and chair of its Technical Committee. He is a committee member of the Organic Growers Alliance, and has been involved in a wide range of projects covering England, Wales, EU member states and Israel.
